Gravity Cleat Demo

We’ve described the way the gravity secured cleat system functions, but we thought a visualization would be far more helpful:

Raising the front end of the Leaf allows it to move freely without hardware or tightening because it’s effectively changing the snug circular profile that fits to the circumference of the Tree Trunk to a longer oval that allows free movement.

  1. […] After cutting the heels/toes from stock material, each piece is half of the desired height of the final part. So each heel/toe profile that was cut on the CNC is glued and stapled into pairs. Once they’re assembled into their final height, the inventor bevels the inner-face (where the eventual cleat assembly rests against the Leaf Tree Trunk) of each assembly so that the edge closest to the Leaf plate is angled out—away from the Trunk in the final assembly. This small detail helps make repositioning the Leafs much smoother, as it gives more room for maneuvering when the Leaf is held at the upward angle to “disengage” the cleat assembly. […]
