Bamboo for Leaf Tree?

When in Portland we were able to visit Bamboo Revolution and were given bamboo plywood and board to make some Leafs and see how the material works with the system and see if we would eventually incorporate bamboo as an additional material option for our Leafs and other parts of the Leaf Tree system.

We were finally able to cut the component parts for some new Leafs, and we’re excited to assemble it and see it in action!

The lighter-color board and the plywood, as we understand it, were manufactured using a non-carcinogenic and environmentally-friendly adhesive. The darker bamboo board, however, was made using a more caustic hardener (which we would avoid if we were to use bamboo for a future line of Leaf Tree parts) that make it much stronger than the more planet-friendly method.

For now, plywood is the most accessible, affordable, and local (ie. manufactured on the East Coast) option for our initial run of leaf tree, but due to Bamboo’s environmental benefits and fast growth, we would love to consider using it in the future when we are further established and have a proven consumer base
