From the start, Leaf Tree was designed to be a highly-robust cat tree. But this is the first time we’ve officially put it to the test!
This test is focused on the strength of the Leaf and cantilevered cleat system. For this test, the Leaf was assembled without glue securing the Heel and Toe–if it’s a point of weakness we want to find out during a controlled test, not in-use by our amazing product testers. To prevent the Leaf tree from tipping with the excess weight, the Root System was weighted with a 15-lb anvil while 7.5-lb and 5-lb plates were stacked on the Leaf in the hopes of finding its breaking point. With four of each weight stacked on the Leaf, it was still holding strong with a collective 50 pounds of weight! The inventor didn’t get a picture of it, but the leaf also stood up to the stack of weights plus the anvil without breaking!
We will need to use larger weights to really push the Leaf to its limits–but not having enough weights to get there is a great problem to start with. We’re excited to do more static weight tests and explore other testing options for all of the different forces we are expecting the Leaf Tree to withstand
