Sewing Patterns
Leaf Tree’s covers are made out of burlap, with the intention to use reclaimed coffee bags in the future. We also add a double layer of cotton batting to give the covers some cushion. You can make your own covers out of any material you’re willing to work with that is safe for your pets: you could ask your local coffee roaster if they have old bags to spare, repurpose old blankets or towels, or find clothes in your pets’ favorite material at a thrift store.
Our current patterns are optimized for our production process: using a sewing machine and a four-thread serger. We currently have all of our patterns available in a single set of three 36×48″ pages (which we got printed at ~$10 a page at a local print shop with a large format printer). If you would like a pattern for a single Leaf Tree part on the smallest paper size possible, please reach out directly and we will export those patterns on request!
Please review our three entries below for the patterns and the contents of each page. We will add individual patterns as we create them, keep an eye out for what is a full set of patterns for a given part:
- Base & Top Patterns = Burlap Piece & Cotton Piece
- All Leaf Patterns = Burlap Top Piece, Burlap Flap Piece, & Cotton Piece

If you have any questions about the patterns and sewing process, contact us at catleaftree@gmail.com and our lead seamstress is happy to answer specific questions or meet to dive into details. We hope to provide more comprehensive resources, including instructions and altered patterns for sewing-machine only covers, when we have the manpower and greater pattern-making expertise! In the meantime, we hope that these patterns will help passionate makers pull together custom covers for their favorite animals.
